Learning to Swim

Learning to swim is the biggest challenge for me. At one point in my life when I was 11, I took a series of swimming lessons and managed to float and swim the breaststroke. Fast forward 30 some years later, I cannot float, I cannot swim, and I panic when I am in water even shallow water. My bf has asked me again and again to learn swimming so we can visit some tropical countries but I am still struggling. This is a big challenge for me but since there is a pool at my place I will be patient. First learn to float, learn to be comfortable in water, put my head under water and breathe. This photo was taken when we went whale watching, look at how fast and graceful the orcas at swimming.

Wild Sockeye Bounty

This year proved to be the year the Sockeye has returned. Therefore, there are great and plentiful wild sockeye salmon being sold everywhere from docks to supermarkets, the freshest, not yet frozen fish that we have all be waiting for. Prices have never been so reasonable. For about $15 you can get a large fish works out to be 3.88 per lb. Below are some recipes I used to prepare my salmon fillets. I filleted both of my sockeyes courtesy of my aunt and mom. Salted half the salmon and marinted the other half with pesto and the rest with a mustard mayo aioli with dill.
